Yoga Therapists

The Center for Integrative Yoga Therapeutics features Boston's top yoga therapists with a minimum of 325 hours’ training, which includes at least 75 hours of Yoga Therapeutics and 50-75 hours of assisting training. They are fluent in a variety of interventions, including Elemental Yoga (alignment-based vinyasa yoga), Restorative Yoga, integrative therapeutics, gentle yoga, breathwork, and meditation. All Center yoga therapists have undertaken an intensive and ongoing apprenticeship with Bo Forbes, the Center Director, and are well-trained in offering physical adjustments to clients. All Center yoga therapists are registered with Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level, and have graduated from the Elemental Yoga Mind-Body Teacher Training Program, which is the only integrative teacher training program in the country to be registered with Yoga Alliance.

A yoga practitioner for 14 years, Ceylan is also a cyclist and Spinning instructor. She is especially interested in enhancing sports performance through Elemental Yoga's mindful, energizing, alignment-based approach to awaken, open, strengthen, and ground tight, weak, or injured parts of the mind-body. Ceylan finds continual joy and inspiration in the way that the practice of yoga offers people at every level of fitness or stage of life a powerful tool to gently and compassionately heal, strengthen, and grow both on and off the mat. A graduate of the 200-hr. Elemental Yoga Mind-Body Teacher Training and currently enrolled in the 500- hour training, Ceylan coninues her practice with Bo Forbes and teaches at Healthworks Fitness Centers for Women in Boston, Brookline, and Cambridge, as well as a Community Class at Karma Yoga Studio in Cambridge.

Clementine, a student of yoga for over 12 years, completed the Elemental Yoga Mind-Body 200-hour training and is enrolled in the 500-hour Teacher Training with Bo Forbes. Clementine came to yoga practice through contemporary dance and movement improvisation. Her love of movement manifests in the joy and freedom she finds in yoga. Initially, Clementine trained and taught in the Iyengar style, studying locally with Zoë Stuart and Arthur Kilmurray. She taught at Mystic River Yoga in Medford and community classes for a neighborhood in Lexington. The Iyengar approach deepened her mindfulness of alignment and attention to detail in poses. Clementine now focuses on the healing and intuitive aspects of yoga practice grounded in balancing the asymmetries of mind, body, and spirit. Clementine is also a visual artist and holds a Masters of Visual Studies from MIT. She brings creativity, sensitivity and a joyful spirit to her practice and her teaching.

James has been practicing vinyasa yoga daily since 2003, and under the guidance of Bo Forbes since 2005. Initially a (successful) tool to lose weight, improve health and calm the mind, yoga now guides James as his blueprint for mindful living. In April 2007, James graduated from Bo's Elemental Yoga Mind-Body 200-hour Teacher Training, and continues today in her 500-hour advanced program. Additional studies in the Anusara method with John Friend further influence James's dedicated focus on alignment and safety to create optimal mind-body openings. The challenging-but-slow-paced, alignment-minded, heart-opening approach of Elemental Yoga infuses each moment for him on, and off the mat. With gratitude for all of yoga's life-changing qualities, James brings a joyful, humor-filled and empowering approach to his teaching and private therapeutic sessions.

Alice first came to yoga to relieve a lower back injury and quickly discovered how much more there was to yoga than the physical practice. Her classes draw from this joy of discovery, with an emphasis on alignment, pranayama, and a connection with the self. Her focus on alignment and slow vinyasa help students safely tap into their internal awareness, taking their practice to new levels. Through a newfound self-awareness, she hopes to give her students the tools to transform their minds and bodies both on and off the mat. She is a 200-hr RYT through Bo’s Elemental Yoga Mind-Body Teacher Training and is currently enrolled in Bo’s 500-hour training. Alice has had additional training in the Baptiste studio. Alice currently teaches at Karma Yoga and Boston Sports Club.

As a professional ballet dancer, Kathy has an deep understanding of the body and of movement. Her studies of yoga have added an entirely new dimension to that understanding, by teaching her about the connection between the physical and emotional body. She now compassionately guides others to understanding that connection and the possibilities for growth that it provides. Her therapeutic skill offers clients a unique pathway to discovering health and ease in the body and mind. Kathy completed the Elemental Yoga 200-hour Mind-Body Teacher Training with Bo Forbes, and is now pursuing her 500-hour certification. Her ongoing studies with Bo fuse with her previous yoga trainings and her experience as a dancer, to inform, enrich, and inspire her teaching.

Kristina began her career in the healing arts afer completing her training as a massage therapist at the Muscular Therapy Institute in 1998. She began studying yoga with Bo Forbes as a means to support her own wellness and to counterbalance the physically and emotionally demanding aspects of being a professional bodyworker. As a result, Kristina became a strong proponent of yoga as a healing modality, and pursued her yoga teaching certification to augment her bodywork skills. Since becoming a teacher, she has utilized a combination of yoga and bodywork to speak to clients' physical and emotional bodies, helping them to access their own wisdom and capacity for healing, and promoting profound and lasting change. Kristina seeks to educate her clients with the need for integrated movement practices to help undo patterns of holding which can perpetuate injury and discomfort. Kristina is a graduate of the 200-hour Elemental Yoga Teacher Training and she is currently enrolled in the 500-hour Elemental Yoga Teacher Training. Kristina is also a licensed massage therapist and a certified Reiki practitioner.

Dorian began her practice in 2000, studying Ashtanga with David Vendetti, when she discovered yoga as a means to heal her mind and body while dealing with issues of depression/anxiety and physical injures sustained while training in dance. She moved on to vinyasa and other yoga forms, studying with several wonderful teachers. It was through these experiences that Dorian continued her exploration of yoga and eventually sought to teach yoga as a means to share these healing practices with others. Dorian is a graduate of the 200-hour Elemental Yoga Teacher Training, which she sought as a way to integrate her knowledge and experiences of the infinite potential of the mind-body connection. Dorian is now enrolled in the 500-hour Elemental Yoga Teacher Training. Dorian believes in the transformative and healing effects of yoga and encourages students to utilize their practice to discover possibilities for creating space and ease in their bodies and their lives. Dorian presently teaches private and group lessons in the Greater Boston area.

Anne Taylor currently lives and works in New York City as a full-time yoga instructor. She holds 200-hour certifications in both Kripalu Yoga and Elemental Yoga, and is currently enrolled in the Elemental Yoga 500-hour Mind-Body Teacher Training Program. Anne sought out the Elemental Yoga Mind-Body Teacher Training as a means to combine her work in the field of mental health and addictions with her love of yoga. She has an interest in the mind-body connection and seeks to bring this passion to her work with students and clients. Anne teaches groups and individuals in a variety of settings including gyms, studios, non-profits organizations, schools, and a physical therapy office. Anne believes that yoga can support individuals to bring about positive change in mind, body, and spirit.
